1) Schedule:
When your school group arrives, students will first gather together on the floor to get instruction from the WOW field study leader. Following the introduction, they will have half an hour to explore and release some energy. Once they have all had half an hour on the floor, we will divide the group in half and take one group at a time in the back to do the activity, while the other group stays on the floor. After the first group has completed the activity, the two groups will switch, group one going onto the floor, group two coming back for the activity. Once group two is done, we will send them back out to finish their time on the floor. Splitting the students both eases the tension on the floor, while also lessening the excitement and noise for the activity in the back. If you are coming with more then one or two classes, students will be grouped accordingly.
2) Preparation for Field Trip:
We do ask that you designate your groups of students prior to arriving at the museum. There should be two large groups, so that when it comes time to do the activity the students are easily separated. Within these groups, please have the students and chaperones matched. Nametags for students are not necessary but do make addressing students easier.
3) Chaperones:
We ask that you provide one chaperone for every five children. This ensures that there are parents keeping an eye on their group and helping to guide them through the museum. The parents for the 1 to 5 ratio are included in the payment. Each additional parent (more than one parent to every five students) will be charged the admissions price of $6.00. This does not apply to groups with special needs. Please notify the Educational Program Coordinator if this pertains to your group. Also, please be sure that your chaperones are attentive to students.
4) Store:
Shopping at the WOW Science Store is a great way to help support the museum. For this reason, we will have the store open unless otherwise requested prior to the date of trip.
5) Scavenger Hunt:
Scavenger hunts are available for students. These help to ensure students are paying attention to the exhibits and reading. If you would like your students to do a scavenger hunt, please notify the Educational Program Coordinator prior to the visit so that they can set up sheets, clipboards, and pencils.
6) Refund/ Change policy:
There is a $50 service for all cancellations made without giving two weeks notice. Fees will be refunded minus the $50 service charge. There is a $25 service charge for all changes to dates or times made without giving two weeks.
