Volunteering

The WOW Museum is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to donate the talents to the museum. We are looking for volunteers in nearly all areas of expertise. If you would like to come in and donate your time, please fill out one of our volunteer forms and send it in. Someone will be in contact with you to place you in an area that will best fit you.

Education Committee: Volunteers in the education department help assist the Education Program Coordinator with field study trips throughout the school year. Field trips are Wednesdays through Fridays and times vary from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Exhibit Committee: Members of the Exhibit Committee work with Exhibit Committee Chair in order to maintain exhibits currently on the floor, and work to create new exhibits.

Retail Services: Volunteers in Retail Services help Visitor Services Supervisor greeting guests, assisting with memberships, and helping in the store. This area does work with the cash register, so we ask that volunteers be at least 16 year or older.

Explainers: Explainers responsibilities entail assisting visitors on the floor at the museum. Explainers help to answer questions of visitors and help to maintain a smooth running floor. Volunteers in this area work with the Educational Program Coordinator.

Outreach Committee: Volunteers who would like to help spread the word of the WOW Science Museum at different events and festivals can work with the Outreach Committee. Volunteers will work with the Educational Program Coordinator.

Donations: Museums are supported by the generosity of donations, and the WOW is no exception. Your donation goes to supporting science education and inspiring curiosity. The museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law. Cash Donations: We gratefully accept one-time donations of cash (by check or credit card). You can also become a sustaining supporter of the museum with a monthly, quarterly or annual donation. We also accept stock donations. To donate online, use the DONATE button on the left side of our website. Please call 209-327-6369 if you wish to be a sustaining supporter.
